JAC by Jacqueline Conoir

No matter what industry you work in, there are always those success stories that are truly inspiring and motivating.

About a month ago, I had the pleasure of attending a fashion event at a newly opened store in Vancouver called JAC by Jacqueline Conoir. This was unlike any fashion event that I have attended thus far, as it was with a small group of motivated women and set in an open forum type environment.

We all had turns discussing what we did and where we came from. We also talked about future aspirations. The best part of the event, for me, was hearing the story of Rozemerie Cuevas, the designer of the label.

As an outsider, it is very easy to see someone successful and assume that it all came easy. Rozemerie told us how she started the label in 1986, in Vancouver, saw its success and hardships as the years went on. She talked about the struggle her and her husband faced financially to get the company running and about having to close their original store. Even when faced with so many obstacles, Rozemerie's passion allowed her to find the fight within her to keep going. After years of research and perserverance, she managed to create a brand that became very popular in Asia and has now come back to her roots and expanded to North America.

You can read more about her story here, but what I wanted to touch on is how truly inspiring it was to hear Rozemerie's story. I think that we often see successful people and assume that there is no way we could get to where they are. But stories like this remind me that we are all human and anything really is possible. It motivates me to do better and work harder to achieve my goals.
